How to Use Word Unlock
Word Unlock is a free word-finder tool that shows you every valid word that can be formed from a set of letters you provide. It's perfect for word games like Scrabble, Wordle, or any puzzle where you need to find words within a limited set of characters.
- Enter your letters — Type up to 20 letters in the input field. Only the letters you enter will be used; each letter can only be used as many times as it appears.
- Choose a dictionary — Select the language dictionary to search against: English, Dutch, German, French, or Spanish.
- Set a minimum word length — Filter out very short words by choosing a minimum of 2, 3, 4, or 5 letters. Defaults to 3.
- Filter by exact length (optional) — If you only want words of a specific length, tap one of the length buttons. Leave unselected to see all lengths.
- Click "Find Words" — Results appear grouped by word length. Each word shows a frequency badge (common, moderate, or rare) based on how often the word appears in everyday language.
- Sort results — Toggle between sorting by length (default) or alphabetically using the buttons in the results header.
Tips
- Duplicate letters matter — entering AABCE lets you form words using two A's.
- The common badge means the word ranks in the top 1,000 most-used words; moderate is top 10,000; rare is top 50,000.
- Words outside the top 50,000 have no badge and are sorted to the end of each group.
- The dictionary and frequency data are loaded on demand and cached, so repeated searches in the same language are instant.
